How To Wear Your Marsupi Baby Carrier

Marsupi baby carriers are easy to use and quick to adjust, with velcro straps and newborn (or sleeping toddler) head support. To get started, watch the babywearing tutorials and follow the steps below. You’ll be set up and ready to go in under 1 minute.

How to Front Carry

Front carry in the Marsupi is perfect from newborn (3.5kg) to toddler (15kg).

  • STEP 1

Place the waist belt around your waist and secure the velcro. The waist belt needs to be nice and tight. The logo should be visible on the outside of the carrier and the body of the carrier should hang down from the bottom of the waist belt. Pick up your baby and hold them tummy-to-tummy. Your baby should be high enough to easily kiss the top of their head. If not, put baby down and readjust the waist belt higher. For a newborn, the waist belt may need to sit under your bust.

  • STEP 2

Pull the carrier body up over your baby’s back, allowing their legs to sit on either side of the carrier body. Always have one hand on baby to keep them secure. Use your free hand to place the straps over your shoulder one at a time and let them hang directly down your back. For maximum comfort, the strap should sit slightly away from your neck.

  • STEP 3

While keeping one hand on your baby, reach behind your back to take hold of the strap from your opposite shoulder. Pull the strap down and then diagonally across your back, then secure it horizontally to the front panel. Only 12cm of the velcro needs to join to make the carrier secure. There is a stitch line on the velcro of the shoulder straps to mark this point.

  • STEP 4

Swap hands and pull the other strap down and then diagonally across your back, and secure it horizontally to the front panel. The straps should make an X on your back. Adjust the straps as required for an even, snug fit to maximise your and baby’s comfort.

How to Side Carry

A great option for older babies and little ones that like to see what’s going on.

  • STEP 1

Fit the waist belt around your waist and secure the velcro. The logo should be visible on the outside of the carrier and the body of the carrier should hang down from the bottom of the waist belt. Turn the waist belt until the body of the carrier is positioned on your hip. The waist belt should be nice and tight. Pick up your baby and hold them on your hip, with the carrier body between their legs.

  • STEP 2

Pull the carrier body up over your baby’s back. Always have one hand on baby to keep them secure. Use your free hand to take hold of the strap closest to the front and place it over your opposite shoulder so that it hangs down your back. For maximum comfort, the strap should sit slightly away from your neck.

  • STEP 3

While keeping one hand on baby, reach behind your back to take hold of the strap from your opposite shoulder. Pull the strap diagonally across your back, then secure it horizontally to the front panel. Only 12cm of the velcro needs to join to make the carrier secure. There is a stitch line on the velcro of the shoulder straps to mark this point.

  • STEP 4

Keeping one hand on baby, use your hand that’s on the opposite side to where baby is sitting. Reach behind your back and take hold of the other strap. Bring the strap across your back and secure it horizontally to the front panel. Adjust the straps as required for an even and snug fit to maximise your and baby’s comfort.

How to use the Newborn Tether

The newborn tether adjust the width of the carrier between baby's knees.
Watch this video on how to use it.

  • After attaching the carrier at your waist, take the tether and put it around the carrier base. Cinch it down to fit comfortably between your baby's knees. Connect the velcro and swivel it around so that the velcro is facing outwards and won't cause any discomfort to your baby. You may need to gradually readjust the newborn tether as your baby grows. Once the full width of the panel fits comfortably between your baby’s knees you will no longer need the tether.
